Duck Hunting Maryland's Eastern Shore

I was invited by a friend to join his club on Maryland's eastern shore, a place rich with waterfowling history. We left the night before opening day of duck season, stopped off at Bass Pro to get some last-minute supplies for me (rookie mistake), then headed east to the cabin.

The club is situated on a peninsula with a private boat ramp nearby. Hunting with a group that is as dialed in as these guys are was amazing. Everything was done as if it were routine, and all I could really do to help out was move some gear back and forth between the boat and blinds. Once setup, we sat and watched group after group of birds fly over head, while one of the veteran club members and his son tried to call them in closer for us.

We bagged five ducks on Saturday, with most of the ducks flying a little too far out or above to be interested. It was a great experience, an awesome trip, and I can't wait to get back out there.

We'll be cooking up the duck meat for Thanksgiving appetizers. Photos/video will be posted!
